Mirena Bagur, MBA, Founder/President

Mirena Bagur founded the company in 2005. During business, marketing and communications experience in the high tech world, Mirena has counseled a wide variety of technology-inspired companies. In addition to executing marketing programs for clients, Mirena was the Course Co-Director of the joint Harvard-MIT Division of Health, Sciences, and Technology course  about entrepreneurship in Healthcare and Life Sciences — HST.921 “Information Technology in the Health Care System of the Future”.  In addition, Mirena is active in the entrepreneurial community, including The Capital Network, MIT Enterprise Forum, MassChallenge.

Prior to CONTeXO, Mirena was a senior vice president at Weber Shandwick, a leading global communications agency. She collaborated with emerging and enterprise companies to conceive and execute strategic marketing and PR programs. Mirena’s capabilities to grasp not only clients’ brand issues, but also understand the challenges associated with educating influencers on the adoption of complex concepts and technologies in business environments, translated into leading roles in numerous technology and healthcare accounts. She led teams that thoughtfully coordinated programs with strategic partners, led communications campaigns for industry analyst firms, and was chosen to lead national-level initiatives designed to elevate Weber Shandwick’s brand and to increase visibility in new markets (start-ups and healthcare businesses, boomers’ market) resulting in numerous referrals and revenue increase.

Mirena holds an MBA in economics and international business from the University of Zagreb/School of Economics, Croatia, and has completed a strategic business leadership program at Columbia University.

Barbara McGovern, MBA, Executive Consultant

Barbara joined the CONTeXO team in 2010 bringing years of experience in marketing, journalism, communications and events management. She creates, manages and implements communications programs for clients in both the high technology and consumer sectors ranging from start-ups to multi-national corporations. Barbara’s is an adaptive self-starter, which makes her a great leader of programs and projects, particularly with her innovative problem-solving skills. She is a socially and culturally sensitive collaborator, with strong ability to build rapport with a diverse client base in multicultural settings and in broad range of industry experiences, in both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Companies Barbara worked with include Catchpole Communications, Incentive Targeting, Google and Pixability.

Barbara was a producer and event manager for many film festivals, including the production of The Boston Jewish Film Festival, Inc., a thriving year-round arts organization. She produced over 50 screenings and special events, promotional outreach, visiting artists’ travel coordination and guest services, venue relations, print traffic and technical support, as well as volunteer supervision.

Barbara also managed special events at the eminent The Woods Hole Film Festival and managed the sponsorships and donations for the 25th annual festival. She also facilitated visiting filmmakers’ positive engagement with the audience, community and artists.

Barbara received an MBA in marketing and operations from Boston University Questrom School of Business and a BS in Communications from Boston University College of Communications.

Amie Dehner, Executive Consultant

Amie Dehner joined the CONTeXO team in 2008 bringing more than 25 years of experience in journalism and communications and marketing fields. Amie has created, managed and implemented communications programs for clients in the high technology and consumer electronics sectors ranging from start-ups to multi-national corporations.

Amie served as public relations program manager for Xerox Corporation’s Production Systems Group’s Supplies Business Unit.  Before her tenure with Xerox, Amie focused exclusively on written communications, serving as the primary strategic and business writer for clients that included Onset Technologies, Inc., Elance, Inc., and Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products.

During her career, Amie has held senior management level positions at FitzGerald Communications and Hill and Knowlton, where her clients included Boole & Babbage Software, Excel, BBN, GeoTel Communications, Digital Communications, numerous business groups within Xerox Corporation and myriad others.

Amie’s earlier experience includes working at Ingalls Associates in its public relations division, The Strayton Corporation and Grey Strayton, International. She has also served as a sales account manager in the Systems Software Division of Computer Associates and as a staff reporter for The Newington Town Crier.

Ms. Dehner graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications.

Stella Vukic, Marketing Associate

Stella joined the CONTeXO Group in the Fall of 2020 to support marketing and public relations programs for a variety of clients. She holds an active role in managing social media account,  managing Influencer marketing and creating text and visual content for Croatian Premium Wine Imports.

She has experience in the hospitality industry including working for the Five-Star Boston Harbor Hotel and The Dogus Tourism Group. Her communications and creative skills enable her to execute effective social media programs on from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Stella is experienced in writing interviews, articles and releases as a marketing associate for Ekonomska Klinika, a professional organization within the university.
She is also skilled in graphic and art software programs, including video creation on Canva.  Her skills also include a full MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Jack McAvoy, Executive Consultant
  

Jack McAvoy joined the CONTeXO team in 2009, bringing more than 25 years’ experience in high-technology marketing, operating at both the strategic and tactical levels.  His skills include:  corporate messaging, communications (public relations, analyst relations), product marketing, business development, demand generation, market research and segmentation, and competitive profiling. Jack is currently a VP/communications at PTC. Prior to that, he was a Research Director at the Aberedeen Group, where he managed and grew Aberdeen’s strategic services practice, overseeing a team of analysts, developing a commercially successful research agenda, personally publishing dozens of successful reports, and providing on-demand strategic advice and critical insights to help technology leaders, customer companies, and investment firms make better go-to-market decisions.

Prior to Aberdeen, Jack served as the CMO of ViryaNet, a provider of software solutions for the field service sector.  There, Jack directed the worldwide marketing and communications effort, and had responsibility for all communications, prospect development, and product marketing.  Previously, Jack began the marketing department, from the ground up, at Pegasystems, and initiated programs that directly affected the company’s dramatic growth.  Jack’s earlier experience included senior marketing positions at Wang Laboratories and Computer Associates.

Jack holds a masters degree in marketing from Lesley College, and a bachelors degree in economics from Merrimack College.
